Abed heads to the big screen!

Like others before him Danny Pudi is now heading to the big screen with Knights of Badassdom.  The film features a group of D&D nerds who unwittingly unleash a demon on the world!

According to Bloody Disgusting comedian Danny Pudi - best known as film aficionado Abed Nadir in "Community" - will be joining the already announced Peter Dinklage, Ryan Kwanten, and Steve Zahn in the flick, which follows the exploits of a group of LARPers (Live Action Role Players) who accidentally release a big badass demon.

Lynch will be shooting this horror comedy from a script penned by Kevin Dreyfuss and Matt Wall. Knights of Badassdom begins filming this July in Spokane, Washington.

And the Winner is Ken Jeong!

Not only did Ken Jeong just win “Best WTF moment” for his performance in The Hangover, this weekend at the MTV movie Awards he had the most sentimental speech at the awards show.  People magazine has the story where he thanks his wife who was battling breast cancer at the time of the filming for making him do the film.

Ken Jeong, who famously played the naked crime lord in The Hangover, was a scene-stealer again Sunday at the MTV Movie Awards, honoring his wife's battle against breast cancer with a moving tribute and tears onstage and backstage. 

"Todd [Phillips] and Bradley Cooper ... helped me through a really difficult time when my wife was going through breast-cancer treatment," an emotional Jeong, 40, said in accepting the award for Best WTF Moment. "The reason why I did this is that she taught me that life is short, and don't be afraid to take chances." 

Jeong's wife Tran, who has been cancer free for two years, beamed from her seat inside the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. 

Tears welled up again backstage as Jeong talked more about his wife, with whom he has twin daughters Alexa and Zooey. "She is the brave one and just my best friend, my inspiration," he said. "I'm just really grateful. ... I was just celebrating her. This whole night is about celebrating her."

Community News Round up! Community DVD extras, new fan art, Community vs Glee and more!

Well it has been quite a week for Community and we got quite a few tips from our readers so here goes!

 

Dan Harmon tells us some details about the DVD extras that we are all on the edge of our seats waiting for.  Nothing certain yet but he tells us that right now there may be a commentary on every episode!  We will have a full list of extras in about a week or two!  I can’t wait!

SeamusHanly tells us that Community will soon begin airing in Ireland on 3e! Apparently there are already a ton of fans over seas which is cool because I always thought the show was too US specific for the rest of the world but that shows what I know!  I guess Community is an international hit!

Alison Brie and Danny Pudi fan Q and A!

Alison and Danny sat down to answer some fan questions including what its like to work with comedy legend Chevy Chase, dream guest stars and when Abed and Annie will be together in an episode.

While in Canada doing press for the show Danny Pudi and Donald Glover showed up at CityTV in matching outfits where they discussed Twitter, Community and Annie’s boobs!

“How do you like working on the show?” garners the following response;

Pudi: We’re on hiatus right now and we go back to work in July, so we have a month and a half of playtime, I guess. But once we’re shooting –

Glover: We’re just shooting. Usually 14 hour, 15 hour days.  It’s shot single camera, so it’s not like you just come in on Friday and bang it out in front of a live audience. It’s shot like a movie and they’re really into making it feel like a movie. And there’s a lot of us! It’s not like there’s just two people.

Pudi: Early on, when the show started, there was a group scene in the study room. And we realized it took a long time, like a full day or maybe two days to do the study room scene. And we were like, “I wonder if we’re going to be doing this every episode?”

Glover: And we have! We’ve been doing it every episode. But it is this thing where you walk into that room on Monday morning and you’re like, well, I’m going to be here all day.

Pudi: And you also don’t know what the wild card is going to be that day. Like, OK, here comes Chevy (Chase) with a goat.

Glover: Or a baby.

Pudi: You’re feeding a monkey. Don’t make eye contact. And we’re rolling!

Glover: The monkey episode, they literally were just like, “OK, so, this monkey’s going to be on your shoulder.” And I was like, “Is it? Really?” It’s a wild animal, with the sharpest teeth. I was terrified.

Pudi: And whenever anyone ever says to you, “There’s one rule and one rule only: don’t make eye contact.” Somebody has broken that rule!

Alison Brie and Yvette Nicole Brown talk Community and income!

While on the promotion trip to Canada CityTV was able to catch up with Yvette Nicole Brown and Alison Brie for a quick interview where they discuss the atmosphere of the set and just what they are doing with the steady income!  There’s even a little hint of what we can look forward to on the upcoming DVD!

Brie: It’s such a fun atmosphere, it’s incredible. I wonder if people sometimes think that we’re lying because we’re always, like, “It’s so much fun!” It’s –

Brown: It’s like a playground.

Brie: That’s what I always equate it to. Wild kids –

Brown: On a playground.

Brie: Because we go nuts. We get a little batty. Silly.

Brown: Naughty! The thing is, everybody is funny in a different way, and everybody enjoys making each other laugh.

Brie: And even though we have different styles of comedy that we work with, I think our senses of humour –

Brown: Are identical.

Brie: Which is a good thing, because on our set, I feel like some of the things we say are so out there –

Brown: You giggle. We work really long hours, but –

Brie: It’s worth it –

Brown: Because we’re all together and it’s a great time.

Brie: It doesn’t feel long. 

Despite the long hours, the cast has multiple projects on the go. Brie has a recurring role as Trudy Campbell on Mad Men, and Brown is in the process of making a television cartoon.  Community was picked up for a second season, which means both actors are now slightly pickier about the projects they choose.

“It’s no longer doing jobs because you have to. My mortgage will be paid now,” Brown says.

“It’s as steady as an income as any of us have ever had,” Brie agrees.

Like Pudi and Glover, Brown and Brie are both active on Twitter.

“I realized the other day that I have 8,000 tweets, and that’s mostly me responding, going “thank you,”” Brown said.

“And I promote the crap out of Community online. Everybody Thursday, I’m like tweeting like crazy,” she added.

There are other benefits too.

“It’s so cool, the immediacy of Twitter. You really have a sense of, oh, people liked this episode. People watched this episode. It’s easy to get bogged down with ratings and networks and all this business stuff that’s really out of our control. It’s nice to have this one place, this one forum, where it’s all about the episode,” Brie said.

Those episodes will be available on DVD this summer.

Brown: It’s the whole first season, with extras and bloopers and –

Brie: I hope they give tons of extras because I can’t even tell you – 

Brown: The funny stuff that doesn’t make it. 

Alison Brie on being one of the sexiest women alive!

Alison and some of the Community gang were just in Canada promoting Community and she had a chance for a quick interview with the Edmonton sun. In the interview she talked about her experience cracking the Maxim hot 100 and explained her plans to climb the charts for next year!

“I got some tips on it, actually. Olivia Munn, who was No. 8 this year and is a friend of mine, gave me some tips on how to work your way up the Maxim Hot 100 list. The tips are totally secret, I’m not sharing them with anyone. You’ll have to see next year if it’s working.

“It’ll be like watching your favourite song climb the charts - one of the most important charts in the history of mankind.”

Alison Brie Returns to Mad Men and scoops about Community too!

Get ready Alison fans! EW’s Eric Ausiello caught up with her on the red carpet and nabbed a few spoilers about her return to Mad Men and the second season of Community!

“To go back to Mad Men this summer after eight months of constant work on Community playing just about the opposite character was really daunting,” she conceded. “I was very nervous I’d forgotten how to be Trudy. But then you put on the clothes and get the hair done and it is like you never left. Welcome back to the ’60s. Without prodding, I’m like, ‘The pot roast is ready!’” Um, pot roast?! There’s going to be a pot roast in season 4?! Reminded of Mad Men creator Matt Weiner’s strict no-spoiler policy, Brie faux backtracked. “Uh oh… I may get fired now,” she joked. “Great. S–t. Thank God we got a second season of Community. But maybe I don’t make a pot roast. You never know. Maybe I’m just saying that to send you down the wrong scoop path. Insert evil laugh.” Insert me saying I love this woman!

Alison on Community season 2:
Ausiello: As much as Allison Brie loved the cliff-hangery Annie-Jeff smooch, she’s worried about the havoc it could wreak in season 2. “It is a bit of a controversial thing,” she acknowledged. “I do think that she and Jeff have a special connection, but it may behoove them to just stay friends. I don’t like that it puts Annie and Britta’s relationship in jeopardy and could threaten the group dynamic. I hope that Annie and Britta are not enemies at any point next year. I have faith that it won’t get too soap opera-y. I don’t think I will be killing Britta’s dad who turns out to be my dad also but then I get amnesia and you realize it is my evil twin that did the whole thing.” Am I alone in thinking that, if done right, that could be an awesome story?

Community Mad Libs!

Got the summertime blues?  Well do I have the thing for you!  Our Community Crossword puzzles are so popular I thought I would try something new. 

So here it is Community Mad Libs… or Greendale Libs!  As you may remember from when you were a kid, Mad Libs is a word game where you fill in blanks to create silly, funny and in quite often offensive and culturally insensitive stories!

I will continue to work on the crossword puzzles, though its getting tough coming up with new clues.  Let me know what you think of the Greendale Libs.
