Donald Glover for Spiderman!

Well this sure is an interesting developing story!

As everyone knows Hollywood is planning a Reboot of the Spiderman films and it was recently announced that an African American Spiderman was being considered and Donald Glover’s name was mentioned.  Well ever since the internet has been burning up with the idea.

No one seems more excited than Glover who has started a Twitter campaign to win the role.  The campaign has even caught the eye of Marvel Comics!

From gordonandthewhale.com:
Obviously pleased with the idea of playing Spider-Man (honestly what nerd wouldn’t be?) Glover went to work on getting the buzz out. The “hash-tag” #donald4spiderman was created and the subsequent re-tweet bomb dropped. The tag started to trend in several cities like NYC, Chicago, and California…
From aceshowbiz.com:
He later started a campaign to get an audition for the role in the upcoming "Spider-Man" movie, writing on his Twitter on Sunday, May 30, "You guys. Let's make this happen. #donald4spiderman." Soon after, fans even created a Donald Glover 4 Spiderman!! Facebook fanpage
As of late, it is reported that the short list for "Spider-Man" reboot is down to five candidates. Those who are allegedly among the list are Jamie BellJosh Hutcherson, Alden Ehrenreich, Frank Dillane and Andrew Garfield
The upcoming film will see Peter Parker as a teenager who grapples with both contemporary human problems and amazing super-human crises. Marc Webb is on board to direct, while James Vanderbilt has been tapped to work on the script. This "Spider-Man" reboot is planned to arrive in U.S. theaters on July 3, 2012.

Glover is planning a “Twitter Bomb tonight… make sure you pass on the #donald4spiderman tag!

More "Soup" for Joel McHale!

TVsquad.com gets the scoop from 'The Soup,' writer Tess Rafferty.

It seems even though Community has been picked up for another season and Joel is even making movies with Steve Martin he is still committed to staying on “The Soup.”

From TVsquad.com:
You can count longtime 'Soup' writer Tess Rafferty among those who think McHale will stay. She says she has no reason to believe McHale will leave, and that any speculation to the contrary is just that, speculation. "It really is," she says. "They've been doing that for years. Also, Joel sees it as a personal challenge to push himself to the point of death working on projects. Then they'll make a reality show of that and we'll cover it on 'The Soup.'"
Rafferty says the writing staff is a tight-knit group, led by head writer KP Anderson. And if you're picturing a crazy office environment and all-night, drug-fueled writing sessions a la the apocryphal salad days of 'Saturday Night Live,' you're off the mark. If anything, 'The Soup' staff are wine and food snobs, according to Rafferty.
"Joel used to work in a wine store before he became a television star," she says. "So he has an appreciation of wine, and the rest of us do, as well. We're more apt to drink wine than anything. We know a lot about wine."
Great news for McHale fans.  More is always better.  Check out the full article here:

Jeff, Annie and the "Ick" factor.

TVSquad.com has an article addressing the “ick” factor between Jeff and Annie and how Dan Harmon and company may deal with it.  From TVsquad.com
But that affection between Annie and Jeff hasn't always felt romantic, mainly because Dan Harmon and his writing staff wrote themselves into a bit of a corner by making Annie a true college freshman. In other words, the character is 18, 19 at the most. And, considering Joel McHale is playing a character in his late thirties, the only way that affection can work is if they feel more like brother and sister than anything else.

And, even though Jeff and Annie have kissed before, the kiss at the end of the season finale was something completely different. But, because of the characters' age difference, the only word that came to mind while I watched it was "ick."
But by throwing Jeff and Annie together, Harmon and crew have acknowledged that they made a mistake. All season, they've addressed the fact that Jeff was old enough to be Annie's very young father, but they knew that putting them together was full of comic possibilities. And they realize that Brie can pull the romance off, because she comes off more like a 30-year-old than a teenager.
So, how will they deal with the age difference next season?
1. Mine it for laughs. Jeff is a cradle robber. Annie is dating an old man. Everyone at Greendale looks at them like they're freaks. Heck, we could even see Pierce (Chevy Chase) and Jeff bond over their lust for much younger women. There are a lot of funny ways this can go, and the writers of 'Community' might be just daring enough to go there.
2. Magically age Annie. This can be done one of two ways: she just starts the season at 25 without explanation, or Harmon builds a story about how Annie forged her birth certificate to play field hockey in high school or something like that. Once we all made the connection that Brie also played Trudy Campbell on 'Mad Men,' the idea that she was 19 went out the window, anyway.
3. Ignore it. Just don't address it. There's plenty about Annie and Jeff -- like Jeff telling the study group to ignore her Disney Face -- that's funny without having to address the age difference at all.

What do you guys think… can they pull it off or will their be a twist ahead?

Donald Glover talks about Mystery team on DVD!

From Movieweb.com:
Derrick Comedy has taken the Internet by storm with a series of hilarious sketches. Now this famed New York University Troupe is finally unleashing their very first feature film on a wider, unsuspecting audience. Sure to be a cult mainstay in the years to come, Mystery Team is making its long awaited DVDdebut on May 25th. Directed by Dan Eckman and produced by Meggie McFadden, this hilarious caper stars Community's Donald Glover, and Parks and Recreation's Aubrey Plaza, alongside Derrick team members D.C. Pierson and Dominic Dierkes. The story finds a gang of former child detectives still on the beat well into their adulthood. Equal parts charming and innocent, while also being hip, fresh, and a tad bit naughty, the Mystery Teamhas never seen anything quite like "the case of the murdered parents". And it will take a lot of growing up on their part to solve this thrilling whodunit.

My first question is for Donald Glover. Last year, before I ever heard of Derrick Comedy, I would get retweets from a Dong Lover? And I always thought it was some porn dude. Was this a nickname you embraced? And why have you since gotten rid of it?
Donald Glover Number one, it is a porn name. obviously. Number two, my name is Donald Glover. When you put the two names together, it does look like Dong Lover. The problem is, people would always ask, "Why did you get rid of it." And I say, "It was because of you guys! You're the reason I got rid of it." Everyone thought they came up with it. I saw it when I first started using it. But I didn't want to erase it. I thought it was funny. But then everybody was asking me, "Did you know your name was Dong Lover?" Yes! I know! How do you not see that your name is Dong Lover. Yeah, that's my name. I had to change it because every third tweet I would get made a joke or reference to being a Dong Lover.

How does the Derrick Comedy team work? Do you all write for each character, or do you get your own character to write, and work from there?
Donald Glover We ran this like everything I'd learned at 30 Rock. Where people would ask this question all the time, "Oh, you must write all of Tracey Morgan's lines." Something to that extent. I don't think anyone could write that way. It would be a disaster if everyone were writing just their one character. We knew who our characters were. And what they did. We were constantly looking at each other's rough drafts. And we would chop them into acts. We brought them all together, and we smoothed it out. We knew this guy wouldn't do that. And that this guy over here would be more like that. We smoothed out a lot of the characterization. It was a process. It's a process when we do the shorts. We need to come together and understand what it is we're really going for. Because it's a premise based film. I don't understand it when people call this a sketch film. Because a sketch film is a lot looser. We have one combining premise. These guys are G rated characters in an R rated world. It was easy to follow.

Now I thought I would post a few links highlighting some of our best moments this year like when I got to interview Yvette (Shirley) and Dino (Star-burns).

For those of you who haven’t already picked up this months Maxim Magazine Alison Brie is on Maxim’s 2010 hot 100 list!

This year Alison came in 99th place… which is a start.  I know, I know the only thing sadder than her not being higher on the list the fact that some of these girls were not alive when I was in High School.  Oh, well that never stopped me before.

Quick peak at the Season Finale of Community!

Here we have a quick sneak peak of the first Greendale Dance.  There's a hint of a goodbye and some Formal wear.  I am so excited and so sad to see the season ending.  It's going to be a long summer!

The Big Bang Theory VS Community This Fall!

CBS announced a surprise with their fall 2010 schedule.  It seems they will be moving the hit The Big Bang Theory to Thursday night opposite Community.

That means that Chevy Chase will be going head to head with his one time “son” Johnny Galecki who costarred with Chase in Christmas Vacation.  Galecki played Rusty Griswold in the 1989 film and you may remember Chase just presented the People’s Choice Award to Galecki and the cast and crew of the CBS hit this past year.

In another bold move it seems that the new William Shatner CBS show will be going up against the Office!

CBS is taking a shot at must see TV.  Will it work?
