Donald Glover has released a new Rap video on his site iamdonald.com.  The song titled Freaks and geeks is full of pop culture references.  I tried to make a list but gave up quickly!

Donald Glover and Danny Pudi throw a raging party just for the fans!

Zap2it.com reports that after Danny and Donald invited anyone and everyone to come out to party with them on their dime!

The next time we see an open invite from NBC's "Community" stars, Donald Glover and Danny Pudi to party with them, work be damned. We're going. 

On Wednesday (Feb. 23) night, Glover tweeted, "Me and [Danny Pudi] are at Agave on Vermont in LA. Open bar for an hour (for my fans) starting...NOW!" 

Yes, we didn't make it over, but there were certainly plenty of fans who did. So, what happens when you hang out with Glover and Pudi? To our delight, Twitter was made for these kind of things. There was general frolic, a botched deal to get siblings to make out, and the actors reached new heights in bar-dom. 

"@MrDonaldGlover offered me fifty bucks to make out with my brother. Not enough...," tweeted one fan in attendance. 

To which Glover replied, "Hey! I said $100. I'm not a creep." 

I hate it I miss this one!

We have been lazy this summer, the curse of the unemployed I guess so let gets everyone caught up with what our favorite show has been up too!

Emmy's Suck:

Well First up our very own Joel McHale and Sophia Vergara (Modern Family) announced the 2010 Emmy awards this morning.  Well what can I say… we were snubbed!

Mchale has said to digitalspy.com that he would not be heartbroken over the loss of nominations:

"My only main concern is making Community and helping Community be the best show on television," he said. "If people will give us a nomination, then terrific. But I love going to work. So I feel like a kid in a candy store."

He continued:

"Dan Harmon, our creator, I really do think he's some sort of mad genius. And I will fight to the death for all my castmates. I'm blown away by what they do every day."

Alison Brie joins Scream 4!

Dimision Films announced last week that Allison Brie has joined the cast of the movie Scream 4.  The film brings the suriveing cast, Director Wes Craven, Screenwriter Kevin Williamson and is filming now.  I can’t wait! 

Brie will play Rebecca, Neve Campbell’s “ambitious personal assistant who envies her boss’ reluctant fame and fortune”.

Filming is already underway in Michigan and Scre4m is scheduled to be released on April 15th 2011.

Jim Rash Screenwriter:

Jim Rash who plays our favorite Dean happens to also be a screenwriter who has finished the script for the now filming picture The Descendants.

George Clooney stars in the "The Descendants," a drama based on the book by Kaui Hart Hemmings. The project has just kicked off filming in Hawaii.

The plot follows Clooney as a husband and dad who attempts to work on his troubled relationship with this two daughters after his wife gets into a boating accident in Waikiki.

Lastly it looks like the new Spiderman film has been cast and alas Peter Parker will not be played by Donald Glover.  It seems Andrew Garfield has won the part.  Well gang… we tried.

Donald Glover "floored" by Spiderman support

Donald Glover sits down with MTV to discuss the overwhelming support he has received on his bid for the role of Spider Man.

MTV reports:

MTV News: Are you surprised by the "Spider-Man" support and how it blew up?

Donald Glover: I was floored. I was really floored. It literally started like, "Who doesn't want to play Spider-Man? That would be cool." The amount of support and people e-mailing me, calling me — I think that's really cool that people have that much faith in me. ... That's crazy that people were like, "Yeah, that guy would make a good Peter Parker." I think that's pretty cool, and I'm happy. It did come out of nowhere. I was very flattered.

MTV: The support has been coming not only from fans, but from people like Stan Lee and "Ultimate Spider-Man" author Brian Michael Bendis.

Glover: I was very surprised but also humbled. They didn't have to do that. Everybody could have been like, "I want to be Spider-Man." If you had gone back in time and told 8-year-old me that one day Stan Lee is going to call you a fine actor, I'd probably jump out a window. It's pretty cool. I'm wondering what he saw when he was like, "That guy's a fine actor."

MTV: Did you grow up a comics fan?

Glover: I was really into comic books as a kid. I used to make comic books when I was in first grade and sell them for a penny. I got in trouble for it, actually. I was always really into Spider-Man. I love his backstory of feeling responsible for his uncle's death.

MTV: Could all this grassroots support lead to an audition?

Glover: I really don't know. I haven't asked or anything like that. It's not something where I'm knocking on someone's door or anything like that. I think it's very cool that people want me to do it. I work for Sony. I'm a big fan of Spider-Man. I'm glad that people are talking about the new reboot because I think it's going to be awesome, regardless of whether I'm in it or not. Whatever happens, happens. I'm not vying for it.

MTV: But it's definitely been fun.

Glover: If the biggest thing that comes out of this is two "Spider-Man" fake covers with my face on them, that's way more than I could ever hope for.

Donald Glover for Spiderman update!:

It seems this Spiderman movie is getting ugly with the list of possible actors getting longer and longer.

In addition to our favorite Donald Glover the other names added to Sony and Marc Webb’s short list are Jamie Bell; Andrew Garfield; Alden Ehrenreich; Frank Dillane; and Josh Hutcherson and now Kick Ass star Aaron Johnson and Anton Yelchin, from Terminator: Salvation and Star Trek have been added.  Supposedly Jamie Bell is the front-runner.

Many comic book artist and writers have weighed in on the subject many in support of Donald Glover.  In fact Artist Chris DiBari and Chris Walker just finished this amazing piece of artwork showing Donald as Spidey!

“Donald Glover owns on Community! I think he’ll be the next big thing very soon. I had a lot of fun working on the piece.”- Chris DiBari

“Community is hands down one the best shows on TV and Donald always delivers as Troy. When I heard about ‘Donald for Spider-Man’ I hit up DiBari to jam on a piece together because we’re both big fans of the show!”- Chris Walker

Even the great Stan Lee creator of Spiderman chimed in by talking about Donald to MTV:

 "He's a great actor. I've seen him, and he's terrific," Lee said when asked what he thought of Glover.

"A lot of my Twitter followers have been saying that he ought to have a chance to audition for the role. So I tweeted back by saying, as far as I'm concerned ... anybody should have a chance to audition for the role. I certainly think he should have a chance to audition."

"Everybody seems to be familiar with Spider-Man, so I say that it isn't that it's a racial issue - it's just that it might be confusing to people. But that's a matter for the people at Marvel to take into consideration. I certainly don't want to weigh in on it in any way, except to say I think Glover is a fine actor."

While in Canada doing press for the show Danny Pudi and Donald Glover showed up at CityTV in matching outfits where they discussed Twitter, Community and Annie’s boobs!

“How do you like working on the show?” garners the following response;

Pudi: We’re on hiatus right now and we go back to work in July, so we have a month and a half of playtime, I guess. But once we’re shooting –

Glover: We’re just shooting. Usually 14 hour, 15 hour days.  It’s shot single camera, so it’s not like you just come in on Friday and bang it out in front of a live audience. It’s shot like a movie and they’re really into making it feel like a movie. And there’s a lot of us! It’s not like there’s just two people.

Pudi: Early on, when the show started, there was a group scene in the study room. And we realized it took a long time, like a full day or maybe two days to do the study room scene. And we were like, “I wonder if we’re going to be doing this every episode?”

Glover: And we have! We’ve been doing it every episode. But it is this thing where you walk into that room on Monday morning and you’re like, well, I’m going to be here all day.

Pudi: And you also don’t know what the wild card is going to be that day. Like, OK, here comes Chevy (Chase) with a goat.

Glover: Or a baby.

Pudi: You’re feeding a monkey. Don’t make eye contact. And we’re rolling!

Glover: The monkey episode, they literally were just like, “OK, so, this monkey’s going to be on your shoulder.” And I was like, “Is it? Really?” It’s a wild animal, with the sharpest teeth. I was terrified.

Pudi: And whenever anyone ever says to you, “There’s one rule and one rule only: don’t make eye contact.” Somebody has broken that rule!

Donald Glover for Spiderman!

Well this sure is an interesting developing story!

As everyone knows Hollywood is planning a Reboot of the Spiderman films and it was recently announced that an African American Spiderman was being considered and Donald Glover’s name was mentioned.  Well ever since the internet has been burning up with the idea.

No one seems more excited than Glover who has started a Twitter campaign to win the role.  The campaign has even caught the eye of Marvel Comics!

Obviously pleased with the idea of playing Spider-Man (honestly what nerd wouldn’t be?) Glover went to work on getting the buzz out. The “hash-tag” #donald4spiderman was created and the subsequent re-tweet bomb dropped. The tag started to trend in several cities like NYC, Chicago, and California…

He later started a campaign to get an audition for the role in the upcoming "Spider-Man" movie, writing on his Twitter on Sunday, May 30, "You guys. Let's make this happen. #donald4spiderman." Soon after, fans even created a Donald Glover 4 Spiderman!! Facebook fanpage. 

As of late, it is reported that the short list for "Spider-Man" reboot is down to five candidates. Those who are allegedly among the list are Jamie Bell, Josh Hutcherson, Alden Ehrenreich, Frank Dillane and Andrew Garfield. 

The upcoming film will see Peter Parker as a teenager who grapples with both contemporary human problems and amazing super-human crises. Marc Webb is on board to direct, while James Vanderbilt has been tapped to work on the script. This "Spider-Man" reboot is planned to arrive in U.S. theaters on July 3, 2012.

My first question is for Donald Glover. Last year, before I ever heard of Derrick Comedy, I would get retweets from a Dong Lover? And I always thought it was some porn dude. Was this a nickname you embraced? And why have you since gotten rid of it?

Donald Glover Number one, it is a porn name. obviously. Number two, my name is Donald Glover. When you put the two names together, it does look like Dong Lover. The problem is, people would always ask, "Why did you get rid of it." And I say, "It was because of you guys! You're the reason I got rid of it." Everyone thought they came up with it. I saw it when I first started using it. But I didn't want to erase it. I thought it was funny. But then everybody was asking me, "Did you know your name was Dong Lover?" Yes! I know! How do you not see that your name is Dong Lover. Yeah, that's my name. I had to change it because every third tweet I would get made a joke or reference to being a Dong Lover.

How does the Derrick Comedy team work? Do you all write for each character, or do you get your own character to write, and work from there?

Donald Glover We ran this like everything I'd learned at 30 Rock. Where people would ask this question all the time, "Oh, you must write all of Tracey Morgan's lines." Something to that extent. I don't think anyone could write that way. It would be a disaster if everyone were writing just their one character. We knew who our characters were. And what they did. We were constantly looking at each other's rough drafts. And we would chop them into acts. We brought them all together, and we smoothed it out. We knew this guy wouldn't do that. And that this guy over here would be more like that. We smoothed out a lot of the characterization. It was a process. It's a process when we do the shorts. We need to come together and understand what it is we're really going for. Because it's a premise based film. I don't understand it when people call this a sketch film. Because a sketch film is a lot looser. We have one combining premise. These guys are G rated characters in an R rated world. It was easy to follow.

Director Jason Reitman interviews Donald Glover for deathandtaxesmagazine.com.  Here they discuss everything from Donald's budding music career to what he hope to be doing in ten years!

Jason Reitman: When I listen to your hip-hop, you talk about being unpopular in high school. But I know you and you’re really funny and charming and handsome. It’s hard for me to believe that the guy you’re describing in high school is actually you, because I was that guy in high school.

Donald Glover: Yeah, but people would say the exact same thing about you, right? I’m sure that everybody that went to your high school, they would not be like, “Reitman, yeah, he was the white Urkel.”

JR: Ha! When I tell people that I was that kid stuck in the video lab, they actually think it makes a lot of sense.

DG: But yeah, my unpopularity bit was totally genuine. I was nervous because I was around all these tough inner-city kids, so I was trying to make them laugh all the time and getting myself in detention.

JR: You were a smart-ass?

DG: I was. But I was also getting my ass kicked a little bit. Kids just were not having it.

JR: You’ve been in fights?

DG: It wasn’t like a punch-punch crazy thing. I just remember kids pummeling me. I came to school once with this new Nike hat I’d gotten from my dad and this one kid took it and filled it with dirt that a cat hat pissed in. Like something out of a movie! He’s like, “Wear the hat with sand in it, damn it!” [laughs]

JR: It’s amazing, right? I mean, you would never do that to an adult.

DG: You can’t do that to an adult! You can only get away with that when you’re a kid.
